Deep Vein Thrombosis Risk Factors
DVTs are very common.
One in 1000 adults suffers from a DVT. About 500,000 per year people develop DVT and about 100,000 per year deaths are attributable to complications of DVT such as pulmonary embolism. Many DVTs and deaths from complications of DVT are reported. Fortunately, the incidents of DVTs in pediatric population are very low. This is estimated at 1 in 100,000 per year pediatric population. Some conditions are associated with very high risk of developing DVT.
